Guwahati’s Biggest Sporting Extravaganza
Goaler’s Guwahati’23 is a Men’s Inter College football tournament wherein the best and most renowned 12 colleges took part to lift the trophy. This tournament shows how much footballer talent we have in our awesome Assam, the tournament kick-off performance was held on 11th March when the summer hit kicked in. It was the 1st edition of Goaler’s Guwahati.
Assam has some popular tournaments and one of them is this budding tournament where the player gets the chance to increase sportsmanship, make new friends, and a ground to show their skills. Across all over the city, colleges come to one location and battle for the glory trophy. Let’s freshen up our memories about how the event went.

Selected best team from each colleges started practicing to compete from this top colleges which were-

Who played all the matches, including the semi-final and finals, and took the trophy home. They did months of practicing and planning to win the title of Goaler’s Guwahati’23. Every institute has sent their best players which made a solid team who played and put the ground on fire! Any guess who won the title of best college football team in the city? Did this mean that the organizer did a good job? Well, Poynt Sports did not disappoint anyone with a big field selection and available facilities. Now who is poynt sports? The choice of the field was so good, had soft grasses so that players did not get injured much, all over the Guwahati the banners of the tournament were hanging high like a king’s crown, and social media were filled with posters of the tournament as everyone was sharing on their stories. Even local vendors opened their stalls near the field to support every player who was playing by selling snacks, water, and many more. The area looked so crowded and beautiful.

The energetic week
Having a week like this where 3000+ footfalls and 1,00,000+ online viewers are betting on who will win and here every team is competing while hoping they will win is something that is needed once a year at least. So that you get the perfect field to show your skills and talents. This 11th March to 18th March might have been a hectic time but you see, how that increases sportsmanship with teamwork and kept playing until the final day where either they are getting the 3rd place or the winner tag.
Just one day before the tournament started, everyone started their A-game practice for the next morning. The crowd, media, players, and everyone present were so excited that they were getting an auspicious chance to be present in this tournament. Once the game started, no one wanted to sit down to rest, just wanted to run like the ball does. On the first day of 6 energetic matches, 10 teams played to be at the top of the group level and qualified for the quarter-finals. On the 7th day when they played in the semi-finals, imagine how much hustling it was with the tension of who would reach the last day of the tournament.
All 360-player participants showed their incredible skills and strategy that the audience left speechless by watching their moves, tactical plays, and heart-pounding goals. Each match was so intense as everyone was so determined and gave their 100% to win. Even there were some moments when people got little heart attacks! No no, not for real. But when the goalkeeper made the last-moment saves, the whole team made a memorable kick to reach a goal and just by that they won 1,00,000 prize money!

Powerful Teams
There were 4 groups, and per group, had 3 colleges. From which, each 12 teams had 30 team members and they played a minimum of 4 matches. Out of them, many players performed outstandingly in the tournament. Let us see the group and the team statistics of the group league stages:


Their age was between 17 to 23 years but their energy was between 100 to 1000 percent! Well, let’s talk about some team that had the best teamwork:
- Tough competitors, ADTU and NERIM gave a thrilling and nail-biting performance in all the matches. The game went the extra mile when NERIM started to score more than the ADTU and they did not stop giving their A-game performance until they reached to finals and sealed the victory.
- Keeping the head high, USTM has secured the runner-up position with their remarkable striking performance, scoring 12 in GF and 12 in GD, they won 2 matches in the tournament, leaving the audience surprised with their excellent footwork!
- NEF Law College showcased their best moves and every team member already knew each other’s next move. They read their team member’s body language on the spot and pass the ball to make a goal. We can say that they had a good critical thinking skills.
